Manhattan's ONLY Hiking Tour
When you need some green and Central Park just isn’t cutting it…
Finding some green space in Manhattan
NYC is an urban jungle - every last inch has been built-up, paved over, demolished, and re-built. It's part of the metropolis’ charm.
When tourists and Manhattanites alike are looking for some green space, Central Park is the go-to place for a meditative place in nature.
While Central Park’s Greensward Plan created a masterpiece of urban ecology, you might eventually find yourself wanting to be in nature that is a little less refined.
Manhattan’s only remaining forest
Many people head up north to Breakneck Ridge, Bear Mountain, or even the Adirondacks to get their taste of nature and escape the city.
This tour offers the chance to enjoy a vigorous hike, take in some beautiful views, all within a 30-minute subway ride of Midtown.
Inwood begins at 200th St, otherwise known as Dyckman, and is home to the only remaining forest in Manhattan. As you can see in the photo to the left, Inwood Hill Park retains the hills for which Manhattan was known.
Fort Tryon Park
Just south of Inwood Hill Park, the hike also visits Fort Tryon Park, home to The Met Cloisters collection of medieval art, but also home to an entrancing relic of the Billings Estate, one of the Gilded Age mansions that populated this area in the early 20th century.
